Curfew has been in place in all 10 districts of the Occupied Kashmir Valley area for a week because of demonstration against Indian rule.
In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people converged on Khrew in Pulwama, today, to attend the gathering held in memory of the seven youth killed by Indian troops in the area on Sunday last.
Massive marches were conducted towards the town from Pulwama, Tral, Islamabad, Ratnipora, Samboora, Pampore, Khanmoh, Zewan and adjacent areas.
Thousands of trucks were voluntarily put into service by people for the purpose. The marches were held despite strict curfew restrictions and shoot at sight orders. People raised slogans; we want freedom and Go India Go.
Curfew was also defied in Qamarwari, Sopore, Kupwara, Kangan and Saloora and people took to streets with anti-India and pro-liberation slogans.
Seven civilians were injured when paramilitary troopers opened fire on protestors at Nagam in Budgam and Kralpora and Kurhama in Kupwara. The police resorted to heavy teargas shelling and aerial firing at various places of Srinagar and Bandipore.
Protests were held in Banihal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, and Ramban towns of Jammu region. Enraged mobs burnt down government buildings in Sopore, police vehicles in Qamarwari and Ganderbal and a police station in Budgam.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar said that the Indian government had declared a war on the people of occupied Kashmir.
Senior APHC leader, Syed Agha Hassan Al-Moosvi, the head of Kashmir Centres in Washington, Brussels and London, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmad Shawl, Hurriyet leaders, Mohammad Farooq Rehmani and Yasmeen Raja in their separate statements condemned the ongoing killings of civilians by Indian troops in the occupied territory.Tags:
