Israeli nuclear and security doctrine

The Syrian chaotic situation is worsening with the passage of time. The NATO makes Turkey forwards to catch up the flames of war. Russia, China and Iran have also decided to defend Syria. The possible confrontation is earlier to be predicted yet the Middle East has become once again the arena of the competitors for pursuit of their own interests.

In ongoing situation, Israel will ultimately remain beneficiary. Therefore, to see the Israeli policy directions and how it would deal with the worsening situation looks more pragmatic.
Israel was created as an independent state in 1948 with the coordinated plan of the dominant western powers. Grabbing the territories from both Lebanon and Palestine, the ideologically oriented Jewish state was formulated with the researchers left astonished on the premise that the created and newly born state upholds the Jewish religion whereas the creators remain the follower and the inherent of the Christianity.
The reason is that the centuries old history signifies the rivalry between the two sects and reports that the christiandoms have been exterminating the Jews within their homelands specifically in the modern periods. What could it be meant is that both sides used to be the extreme aversive cabal? The creators wanted the existence of new state to be employed as the instrument to serve the imperial interests of the said powers whereas the Jewish lobbies got succeeded to formulate an ideological state for them.
Subsequently, Israel came into being. Since 1948 from the period, it was formulated, the animosity and the resent between Israel and the Arabs remain undeviating. The latter was now compelled to survive, and sustain its integrity, security, safety and independence whereas the formers were pursuing the resent course of action in an attempt to revive their pride and to snatch back their grabbed lands. Thus, the contest ushered between survivability and pride, security and land acquisition.
The Israeli kings of arms were rational and experienced more sensitivity while surviving into the Arabs heartland. There was no option for them instead to be working extra-ordinary and making their national citadel impregnable. The period together with the last 64 years has confirmed the determined valor of the Jews and has corroborated that Israel has win the laurel to survive despite being besieged in the Arabs from the quad channels.
Ironically speaking, the perceived threat help them embellish with extra spirit and employ them in state of exigency to confront the prevailing fatal perils. Accordingly, the liable institutions chalked out long-term policies and consistently articulated broad based strategies to achieve the desired agenda of the chalked policies. The security was prioritized as the most significant goal. Therefore, to ensure the security and territorial integrity, it was considered to develop the robust firepower, to establish the impervious intelligence and surveillance and sophisticatedly equipped air force.
Given the firepower, the nuclear power has emerged as the most hazardous punch in the contemporary military weaponry. This has taken the shape of preventing the war rather winning the war as Scott D. Sagan maintains. Although it is a decisive device to win a war like US did in WW-II against Japan, yet its usage is possibly not justifiable. Realistically, Israelis depended on the development of nuclear weapons in order to deter the Arabs' aggression. Before explaining the nuclear capabilities of the Israel, it is imperative to interpret its security doctrines in its relations with the security threats and pre-requisites.
The security doctrines in relations with nuclear build up reveal how the Israeli enthusiastically stand keen for the ensured security. The Israeli government understands the limitation of the strategic depth specifically when it is harassed by the heavily populated Arab lands. This remains much shorter, expanding only 74 km on the shortest point. That is likely to be traversed within 4 minutes by a sub-sonic fighter. Understandably, the population of more than 7 million is widely spread within the small territory that makes it the populous.
Thus, keeping the lack of strategic depth and the small but populously scattered population in mind, the policy-making junta in Tel-Aviv feels itself more constrained and this vulnerability causes them to face nerve-racking scenario because a disastrous attack on the population is not endurable. Under such circumstances, they have maintained, "If Israeli population is destroyed or attacked or its territory is lost to the adversary, it would use the nuclear bomb.
For maintaining superiority of firepower over the entire Arab countries, Israeli decision makers undertake a scheme of introduction of the state of the art fighters and the bombers in IAF. Accordingly, the history shows that IAF maintained superiority on its neighboring countries in context of both quality and quantity of the fighter assets. The wars of 1967 and 1973 confirmed the relevance of the Israeli air superiority and utmost stepped up its effort to secure the national frontiers. If the Israeli air force is attacked and destroyed, the fire superiority is vanished.
The less firepower Israel has, the greater chances of collapse Israel expects. Therefore, an Israeli doctrine mentions that Israel would utilize the nuclear arsenal if IAF were destroyed. On the part of the centre of gravity, the Israeli population in majority, its industry and business venues and the military installations are located in the major cities. Losing the population would cause an irreparable loss to Israel. If the trade and business activities are terminated, the sustainability of nation could no longer be ensured.
If the military installations and bases are vigorously dashed to ashes, the defensive citadel is no more likely to be fortified. If the defence is collapsed, the nation like Israel is unable to keep alive its existence. That is why the doctrine signifies that Tel-Aviv would ultimately employ its nuclear weaponry if the centre of gravity entirely or partly were destroyed.
Israel has equally maintained the policy of organizing second to none conventional forces. Its three lands based air power and the small but the most modern navy with the nuclear capable submarines are capable of demonstrating much valor and expertise for the defence of their homeland. Seeing the Israeli conventional defence impregnable, if the adversary opts to undertake the usage of the nuclear bombs against the Israeli armed forces, the Israel would face an irreparable loss. Therefore, the junta in Tel-Aviv is of the decision that Israel would definitely embark on reactive nuclear usage if its armed forces were attacked with nuclear bomb.
Hypothetically speaking, the Israel remained the advocate of the offensive defence uptill the Syrian internal conflict. Therefore, the mentioned tenets of the doctrines mark the usage of nukes to ensure the states security. Nonetheless, these are maintained as the long term policy and if the possible confrontation between the previously mentioned parties is made and the Russians along with their allies overrun the Israeli defense, there are more chances, Israel may utilize the nuclear bomb. This would create a catastrophic picture and would kindle the possibility of ww3 with the fatal usage of nuclear bombs. Therefore, the international media and organizations for the human rights are advised to convince the said countries to be reconciliatory and avoid the war like situation.
