Relaxed, Confident and at peace, Commands high respect among jail inmates.

The assassin of Governor Salman Taseer, Elite Force commando Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri, who has been lodged in Cell No. 2 of Adiala jail, Rawalpindi is relaxed, confident and at peace, offering prayers five times a day without fail.

The sources in jail confided to this scribe the under-trial Qadri with smiling face recites “Naats” and carries out “Tabligh” whenever he meets with his jail inmates. He does not harbour any fear about his future or death, the sources said.

He commands high respect among his jail companions who consider him as a noble, revered and highly respectable man. They listen to him as a man of honour, the sources said. The jail atmosphere is quiet sympathetic to him.

Qadri also passes remarks about those jail inmates who have been accused under blasphemy that they should also meet the same fate as that of Salman Taseer.

It is also mentioned here that Naats recited by him before assassination of Salman Taseer are being distributed in the country through internet and cell phones.

Earlier, when he was taken to court in Rawalpindi after his arrest, a group of lawyers and general public showered flower petals on him and chanted slogans in his favour. The government has now decided to conduct court proceedings in jail.
